Gunslinger Girl Second Season Date

While a second season of Gunslinger Girl was announced a few months back, it’s been confirmed that on the 24th they announced the second season—entitled Gunslinger Girl Il Teatrino—would be pushed up from the original estimated air date in Spring of 2008 to this Winter season (airing on January 7th supposedly but others report January 5th…).

While many of us are cheering, myself included, I think my cheers are very quiet in comparison to the majority. I believed the show was good, but I think my main reason for not enjoying it as much as I did is because I watched the American released DVDs. The person who let me borrow them had the first two, yet we had to wait another two months or so until I could watch the final installment. Being the idiot I was by this point I had forgotten a bulk of what occurred during the story. I recalled my favorite characters and why, also the vague outline, but I had lost a lot of current knowledge on the fine details.

This had distracted from my own experience, so I’m probably going to have to watch this once more before trying the second season on for size. I always thought the beautiful art and the unique story was something to be noted, but I never gave Gunslinger Girl that recognition. Though, while I would love to give off predictions, I can’t because I’ve forgotten the elements of the series in the long run anyway. So, I’m a bit more disappointed in myself despite the fact I only hope this upcoming season is one to impress, and not one that is a terrible sequel.

Realistically, this actually brings more then three shows for the winter season that I’m likely to watch… and here I thought it would disappoint (and possibly allow me to catch up on my currently watching series).

  1. I liked Gunslinger Girl too so I’m glad there’s going to be a second season. I can remember quite a few bits of it but since it’s only 13 episodes, I could consider rewatching it as well. My fave was Triela, I’m glad you found a nice image of her for your blog header.

  3. I’m afraid I only vaguely remember that one, but I’ll get to it soon since I just started rewatching. Dunno if that’s such a great idea though since I just learnt they won’t use the same seiyuus. We’ll see.

  4. Nice. So it won’t be too long until S2 airs, which is what I’ve been waiting for too. As for me, I kinda vaguely remember each details of each eps..So I will have to rewatch it before S2 starts.
