Gundam 00 Episode 04

Once again the Celestial Beings slip into that bad guy role as if its natural. I’m starting to see a slight pattern, not sure if it will continue through the whole show or just until the Gundam pilots change the world for the better. It makes me go back and think of the conflicting debate found in the series Death Note, solely because while there was many things wrong with killing people it was for a greater good. I think Gundam 00 is similar in their approach with the whole eradicate war ideal. Sure, it is indeed revolutionary, but is it right? I could go and debate such a thing for hours on end, and I’m sure many of you could as well. Though it’s really the way a person perceives something. I think if that is the manner in which the directors are going I really would like to see the rest of the story being told.

A lot going on in this episode, then again many Gundam episodes are complex for their variety of characters. Many of them have yet to be fully introduced, but I was finally able to see a decent amount of my princess. It was obvious that Marina was going to have a sweet yet strong nature, somehow it doesn’t surprise me because it seems a Gundam series without that type of character falters. Then again, that might be my feminism speaking or I just enjoy characters with those personalities far too much.

It was kind of nice to have the suspense leading up to who exactly the team would attack. The mighty US or the Taribian who tried to use them. This attack could be considered biased because the Gundams knew they were being used, but I think it played out relatively nicely. It’s pleasant to see that no matter how selfish and hasty there goal is that they are attempting to achieve it properly. Intelligence is a key factor I just tend to miss sometimes. Though to really show that the Celestial Beings mean business and aren’t taking sides is really a nice glorification to their own team.

I do, however, hope that there isn’t some other motive. This is nice for now yet it could turn into a more political, revenge, etc type of game. I’m not sure if it will and it’s normal to have doubts. I am still a bit concerned with how each Meisters became apart of the team, and if its related or merely for different goals. I mean, if it is the latter we could always come across an arc where there is trouble on the inside. Won’t that be fun? Though these are speculations and what ifs, I have a nasty habit of that to try and get more meaning out of Gundam series.

Overall, I think the character development seen in the previous episode was dropped for a fast paced story and a slight bit of action. I liked how it came together, and even the political mannerism seen in the plot itself, but I still have my doubts on the likeability of the characters solely because I never see them shine. If anything, I either see them for split seconds or I’m left in doubt of how interesting their own personal story can be.
