Clannad Episode 10

Ah, trouble is arising in Clannad world. This was actually the first time I was bored watching an episode. I’m not sure if this was more so due to the fact I have a head cold right now, or merely because the cuteness I once saw in Kotomi kind of faded away due to the fact she was such a center point in the show. Maybe a bit of charm vanished due to the fact that mysterious girl seemed to as well. That, and introductions are never truly very fun in all actuality. Despite that I felt the episode was rather warm and entertaining as always to an extent.

I was more so uninterested in the fact of what was going on instead of the story as a whole. So I did find certain parts where I laughed quite a bit, but others felt lacking in comparison to what happened last week. It’s not that it was ignored, which was very nice for them to throw in that slight tidbit, but more so that the change from drama to laughter was poorly done in my opinion. Maybe they figured a new episode and a new week would cover such a thing up. However, I still couldn’t shake the fact that it felt awkward.

Though Kotomi is a moe gem in a certain manner of speaking. She just naturally squeals cute due to her personality. It’s within the way her body language is animated, and she seems solely meant to be in the show for that reason. I really wish to see more of her but in a different light, one more subtle much like when she first appeared. It seems unnatural for such a character to be as out in the open as she currently is. I’m assuming it’s the only real method to allow her story to be told, but it felt sudden and too fast.

Either way, I should be use to such a thing considering that is how a new arc starts and ends. I’m interested in what secrets Kotomi might have, she does seem to be sad at certain intervals, so I’m guessing her past isn’t very pretty. That or she has a problem with her parents considering she couldn’t talk about them in a clear fashion. Either way, I feel that Kotomi is better stuck in her library then making friends, though I’m assuming she’ll grow into such a situation. For now, she feels like a fish out of water.

I was somewhat surprised to hear everyone assuming Nagisa and Tomoya were now a couple after they had lost their supposed daughter. I thought it was ironic yet enjoyable all the same. It’s one arc I’m just waiting for, almost as if each episode is one step closer. Also, much like before, it’s nice that the other girls don’t magically vanish when an arc starts or finishes. That was one of my biggest pet peeves seen in Kanon, and now that they are constantly involved with what is going on things seem more planned and reasonable. It’s really a nice notion to have instead of a chapter by chapter tale.
