Gundam 00 Episode 05

A very lovable episode in turns of character involvement, though it didn’t necessarily help story progression, it worked hard to give a bit of insight on a few of our characters. Very slowly Gundam 00 is becoming more and more likable. Its start was mediocre by my own standards, and it felt lacking solely due to the lifelessness involved. However, it’s beginning to have its own sense of style and uniqueness that it couldn’t seem to find beforehand. I saw this episode as a major improvement solely because the interest in these one sided characters had finally been quelled to a degree. Little mannerisms are starting to appear, and that’s what I truly love.

In all honesty, what took place in the episode was seemingly very dry in terms of unpredictability and the speed at which the problem was taken care of. Even still, it seemed interesting to see that the Celestial Beings are such a closed-knit team. It’s very fitting to experience the fact that they truly all share the same goal when it comes right down to it. I mean, there is obviously going to be slight rebellion (as seen by Tieria) yet it was done in a tasteful way to show that it wouldn’t cause future problems, but instead display more so the bond the other Gundam Meisters have. While this can always be broken by future events, which tends to happen in a complex series such as this, I thought it was a very decent way to disclose their point.

Usually I get rather disheveled when I think of all the characters that appear now and then. However, I was really pleased seeing every characters reaction to what was occurring—mainly because I started caring for them—but also because their importance to the story as a whole has increased. I honestly thought that this show would continue to bore me, but I think it’s recovering gradually. Even if these are small steps, and even if my hope dwindled, I truly believe Gundam 00 can become a nice addition to the franchise. It’s seemingly natural for these types of shows to need a certain amount of time to develop before they can have any real meaning to them.

My biggest thing I think is the fact it seemed a bit more normal, if not somewhat flat, then pervious episodes. While political growth and big robots appearing out of no where to erase war is nice, it was never something a viewer could relate with because there was nothing there. The focus was on too big an aspect, the characters had little life that gave them personality, and the situation had yet to settle into an acceptable reality. Maybe I have to become accustomed to large weapons stomping around proclaiming peace, but I feel the viewer needs that subtle amount of time to get use to what’s happening.

I earnestly believe that with the right amount of time and patience, this series could turn into a real jewel. I mean, I could be getting my hopes up quite a lot, but I think it has a lot more potential then certain shows that appeared during its season (coughDragonautcough). Either way, I sincerely wish they stay on this path they’ve made for themselves. While shocks and thrills are nice, I want to see what they’ve brought together to its fullest. So here’s hoping the rest of the series doesn’t suck ass!

I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Also, it ain’t hard for an anime to be better than Dragonaut lolol… Sorry, I got carried away.
