Merry Christmas and all that jazz~! The Horrors Of The Kanon Dub

Let me clear this up before I begin this post by saying I equally love dubs as much as subtitled versions of anime. I’m one of the rare people in the middle who doesn’t necessarily mind either in the slightest; however, even I will draw the line at dubbing that doesn’t fit the basic character persona. I’m generally very descriptive when it comes to what I do and don’t like about a voice since a single tone, pitch, or mannerism carried out can make or break a character. So it’s only right to be so thorough, and after hearing the dub for the Kanon (2006) sneak peek I honestly have nothing but negatives that want to roll off my tongue in a matter of moments. I am not dead, just very close to considering that this computer screen has turned into a blurry mess by this point in time. I actually have a good explanation as to why I’ve fallen behind, but don’t worry since my break begins tomorrow and I’ll pick back where I left off. I’ve been in a slight anime hiatus since after Thanksgiving I got this glorious HDTV. My last TV was thirteen years old and it was merely a 12” to 15” inch which had a remote that would barely work or would barely power itself on at all. Despite the fact I found this episode much more tame in humor in comparison to the wacky structure of the previous ones, it was some how much more funny to me because the jokes were in a neat order. At first, I found that the episode was beginning to bore me solely because it was focusing on nothing relating to story progression. In all actuality, this is more of a filler episode then one that contributes to the plot itself. It felt empty in some places, but I still couldn’t help to enjoy it. Oddly enough I hadn’t ever planned on talking about this subject. In all actuality, I was going to let it pass back and try my very best to just let it feed in for future reference. Instead, I wound up holding all these opinions in on the situation that I was a bit warped to the point of stopping whatever I was doing and working out my own thoughts. I think that was really what got to me, and started the Can You Stop Talking? entry. Even so, I meant it more so as a personal advocate as to how seemingly idiotic that everyone was saying the same thing, yet not doing anything to really help the problem.
